Cruising with a Baby

I read in YM a few months ago that babies do not get sea sick. Something to do with them not having a developed sense of balance anyway.

We chartered in Croatia a few years ago; us, my daughter and son-in-law, and my granddaughter who was then about 9 months old. We made a "safe" area down below with cushions which allowed the child space to crawl and roll about. With four adults on board, there was no difficulty in ensuring that she had company. It also allowed the parents the opportunity of personal time together

I guess that it would be considerably more difficult for just two adults to cope with an on board baby, but others seem to have managed OK. As it happens my granddaughter had only just recovered from a very serious illness, and the parents had obviously taken medical advice prior to the holiday. In the event, it was a wonderful holiday.

Thanks again, its really good to hear experience of people who've done it! Also confirms my suspicion (sp?) that young baby is the time to do it!

For those with babies - Calpol. Lots of it.
And for those without babies, it's very useful to carry some terry nappies. If you hang them on the boom when you tie up in harbour no-one will raft up next to you, and you can get away easily the next day.

... except for people with children on board, with their own nappies who will see you as a kindred spirit. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
