I've got hooked by the old seadog you tube channel which whiles away some time which would be better spent gardening.....at the moment we are in Panama

any recomendations for other vlogs or blogs that are worth a read - not superyacht sailing and keep the bikini's to the minimum - but especially those with an open discussion of costs (I can dream). I've had a look around and have notice that ideas of costs vary from some us posts (we need 60K USD just to keep afloat) to more realistic sums

Interested also in blogs about trips to other parts of northern europe as well as the med/caribean bit.

A couple that pop out to me are RAN Sailing, How to Sail Oceans and Patrick Laine. Sailing Soulianis (sp?) is another that actually does give costs. I'm not sure about RAN but I'm giving it a shot.

I very much prefer 'actual sailing' rather than the travel, seeing new places kind of vibe that some of them can pick up. How to Sail Oceans actually does go into some detail with regards to practical fixes, how he's sailing, intricacies of his vessel (classic wooden, gaff rigged). Patrick Laine is known for youtubing his screw ups (and boy are they some classics). That said I haven't seen Sailing Souliani in a while as the majority of their videos were motoring up and down rivers (in a sailboat, go figure). Not really what I'm interested in.

If anyone else has some recommendations along those lines, I'd appreciate them, because Youtube recommends suck.

thanks!

Probably able to take those and work something out. Not sure we'd be sharing a baguette for lunch for example!!

tbh mostly the same cost as staying at home (ie the basic monthly spend on food n drinks, entertaining is what we can afford) it's just the marina stops and boat maint that are the significant variables.

ta Kelpie - useful links thanks. I think double what Kittiwake spend :)
