A couple of videos of our recent Cape Town - Maputo - Cape Town cruise on board something a little bigger than a Princess 50.

This one has a bit more land based activity. WARNING - contains partial nudity. What has been seen can never be unseen :)

Henry :)

No, all my own work - except for a couple of the Christmas show pictures which were taken by a cruise friend on board. I did nick a couple of bits from last years cruise on the same ship.

You need to grab your opportunity when you see it in terms of behind the scenes shots. I took the galley footage during the galley lunch where they serve food in the kitchens. What's hard is that all the staff smile and wave at you when you actually want them to ignore you. Just a case of being patient and pretending that you aren't filming.

The aft shot will have to remain a secret but bizarrely we had dinner with the health and safety officer the night we took it :)

I've never been on a cruise.

I've always wondered if people worry about falling over the side.

Possibly this would be a real risk on a smaller vessel at the point when the sixteenth cheeky cocktail starts telling you that it would be an excellent idea to start a conga line.

Or does the ship just seem like an hotel which mysteriously seems to be in a different place when you wake up?

Thanks Henry. Now that we're getting on a bit, we're thinking about one of these Saga cruises ourselves;)

You would have to seriously try to fall overboard.

Seabourn Sojourn has a GRT of 35,000 tonnes. In cruise ship terms that isn't huge but if Sunseeker exhibited it in Hall 1 at Excel they would need to cause quite a stir, not least because it wouldn't fit :)

You do feel a bit of movement unlike the 150,000 - 200,000 tonne mega cruise liners which are more stable pretty much all the time. That said someone went overboard Oasis of the Seas the other day. I suspect the person contributed significantly to their near death experience - they were picked up by another ship.

I'm sure a few people see it as an opportunity to get rid of a partner or family member, a bit like flushing an unwanted goldfish down the toilet.

Hope your entertainment was a bit better than ours Henry:ambivalence:

Oh dear May:(
Last time I saw Him we were both 'performing' at a holiday camp that shall remain nameless
Not telling what I 'did'!
Great videos henryf!
Not been on a Cruise either benjenbav, think I would be too tempted to mither the Skipper in the 'wheelhouse' and be confined to quarters!
;)

I always wondered why Mrs S was so keen to go on cruises

Old safety briefing joke:

Him: Darling, if anything happens to me, you know what to do, don't you?

Her: Yes dear.

Him: Just remember to hit the MOB button before you call Mayday, ok?

Her: Yes dear...straight after the life insurance.

impressive work with very professional result,
recording, editing, music, and even collor correction / enhancement (!?) all done very well.
could be used as a promo film,
this is much better than many real pro promo films,
Henri, you could sell it to the agency :)

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I quite fancy running workshops on a cruise to help people make their own videos. It's really easy to sort our the basics.

Saga Saphire is in S-ton tomorrow.

They usually have a few last minute cancellations (old folk & all that). The trick is to get aboard for less than t costs you to do the shopping :)

Lovely video, really brought back memories of SA...looks like you thoroughly enjoyed yourselves.

We are big fans of cruising, (trans Atlantic at least), and the movies really capture the best of it...Conga line excluded!

Thanks for posting.

I think the best way to do it is win a ticket (steerage is fine) in a game of cards, meet and save a rich girl and then you're laughing - icebergs excepted :D
