Listen to Neil Young's Ambulance Blues [I think, if I remember rightly without putting it on] for the reference. Mind you, he is singing about music journalists/critics.

Classic version

Seen many years ago in Amsterdam, I recognised enough latin words to be pretty surprised at reading "Homo Sapiens non urinat in ventum " carved into this impressive portico.

No need to do it to windward. Surely just go straight into the cockpit, unless I've misunderstood the origin of the word all these years?

"one solution"

Works fine for me but then that's why she does not to tack at oportune moments, not that she cannot just that it does not have the same effect :D

I can remember as a child the first time we tacked the new (to us) bigger boat with the toilet to one side (not midships), whilst mum was below.
Lets just say she was not impressed ...

Wasn't there some guy who went to use the heads single-handed, the boat tacked for some reason (wind shift? self-steering failure?) and the changing forces flexed the hull enough to jam the door shut on him?

:D :D

Been there!

Solo off the coast of somewhere, a plate covering where the wires come down from the mast slipped down enough to stop the heads door from opening. With me on the inside  In open water with no traffic so no rush, managed to squeeze my hand through with some studding to push the plate back up eventually.

All reasons why SWMBO insists that all P***ing takes place sitting down on our boat, if you don't you have to clean the heads. :D
