can anyone suggest a programe i can install on the computer to play around with while sitting indoors that includes plotting and passage plottingsomething simple

Alas no
When (in the past) I have played with this software I scanned my charts in A4 sections. Part of the package allows you to 'stich' together charts but I could never get my head around the instructions.
Otherwise, I would be happy to scan your charts if I had a scanner big enough.

....and another thing, the software will search for the best chart so will switch from one to another when it 'runs out'
