Cruising Plans

So what do you have in mind we have few in mind but main one south Ireland, making way up to Belfast then around to the Atlantic coast to take in the the Giant Causeway , any one circumnavigated , Ireland.

Big waves down that way pal.

Done in once - in a submarine. ??

Roy, your geography sucks, you cant navigate out Conwy channel without tracing a line that would do a puzzle book proud and you want to go where? Is this a shout for someone to hold your hand and do you have several wads of five thousands to pay in fines as you flout Bojo's, IoM and Eurospot laws and decrees?
White diesel, red diesel, GREEN! diesel, passports, vax passports, paperwork out the wazoo.
You go. Keep us updated from the prison pooter. Have you even checked to see if they'll allow you to log in?

Oh ya. Take several Irish yellow courtesy flags. Fly them all at once when you enter a marina and hurry off to the local.

I’ve sailed (raced) around Ireland 4 times and done lots of cruising and delivery trips on the east and south coast. The best cruising is between Cork harbour and the Shannon estuary. If you want to do the southwest coast from Wales then Kilmore Quay and Dunmore East are good options. Then on to Cork Harbour, Kinsale and the fabulous west Cork. The east coast is a bit limited but not too bad. Greystones, Dún Laoghaire, Howrah, Malahideand Carlingford are all good options.
On my own mobo I am based on the Shannon but do the estuary, Kerry and West Cork every few years

Hey i am planning ahead for cruises now, just been working on going from Port Dinorwic to Pwllheli on a couple weeks cruise as soon as i get the boat going.

I know, getting carried away but nothing wrong with planning as i have never been to sea before :)

I enquired about visiting Ireland a few weeks back, a strict NO for foreign boats, no exceptions even if you vow to follow all COVID regulations- you will be turned round

Iam talking August , i think northern ireland will be open and we can do that in one trip give IOM a wide berth , plus it will stop Mr Goole raiding my Malbec.

Yes, sailed down the east coast loving every minute. Then along the south coast which was even better. The west coast was awesome as was the north coast.

When I do it again I’m going to concentrate on the SW , W and North as we dawdled too much on the east, which was great...

Ahhh.. Its all good, you’ll love it. We had six weeks which wasn’t long enough.

Have a search on here for Oceanfroggie, He has done quite a few cruise reports going around Ireland in his Broom. Nice guy, I'm sure he will answer any questions you have.

Hopefully things will be better by August

:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hear that Roy. Just in time for you to enjoy all the hurricane remnants bouncing off the American East Coast and Greenland depressions. That'll put hair on your bum. Last August someone here posted graph readouts of a buoy just off west Ireland. 70 foot waves. I mean they get bad enough in the Irish Sea and the Irish Gyre doesnt help. But fekit. Pride and all that. What's 70 foot anyway, a boat floats doesn't it? And August aint all bad. In the last 5 we had a cracker in 2016, 2017 we survived Storm Gert but lost fridges and batteries and nearly got shelled by arty. Every year since we couldnt make the bar crossing much less reach Bardsey even after sitting 5 days at anchor at Aber waiting the chance. 2019 was a right duzi. Force 9 winds, dragging anchor, davit lines getting caught in props in the thick of night and collapsing the davits to the point of banging on the props. Near death and dismemberment as I nearly rode the boat up the beach because the channel buoy lights were obscured by horizontal rain and spray but the airport beacon shone lovely and bright. Aye August. I'll follow you to the ends of the earth in August, get bust by the water rozzers and have you call me mad bastard again. August. In August I take short hops that I can skedaddle from with even shorter notice. If you want a long trip with me, May/June
