I've got my eye on the MBM Channel Islands cruise, if they'll have me. I've mentioned it in passing to swimbo and got a slightly favourable response. Or at least that's how I interpreted it! Failing that we'd like to muscle in on the MBM weekend at St Kats for the Jubilee. I'd like to get across the Thames Estuary to have a poke round all those Essex and Suffolk inlets. Then there's nights away in the Swale. It's fun dreaming innit!

The usual week in July has been booked for Upper Lough Erne, hope to venture a bit farther down the Shannon-Erne waterway plus every other possible opportunity grasped to potter about on Lough Neagh and associated rivers. I hope to get to float about in that corrosive stuff this year, but SWMBO remains unconvinced.

Quite a change this year.

We've given up the annual berth in Swanwick and arranged a berth in St Helier through the summer (June, July, August). If that works out we may stay longer, through into 2013 when we start to get more free time. Swanwick have been accomodating and will switch us to a monthly contract through April and May.

There are flights a couple of days a week from our local mini-airport (Staverton) which is 10 minutes from our house direct to Jersey, so we're hoping that isn't a big problem.

All being well summer cruising will be Guernsey, Herm, Sark and the French coast, maybe round to southern Brittany.

Something to loook forward to on cold nights!

Sounds perfect!!!

Hoping to get some better use this year, early season run to Lulworth is planned. Hopefully we can build swmbo's confidence a little!

In My Little Boat!

Well apart from attempting to attend all the club musters & Scuttlebutt events, an ex-submariner has been diagnosed with something very serious. So as part of his recuperation we are hopefully going for a “whatever” weeks sail around the Clyde.
Yep! …. & in my little boat, so if anyone hears of a couple of old (er) nutters causing mayhem later in the season …. that’ll be us then. ;) :D

Sailing my new ( to me ) boat out to Gibraltar this April. Allowing three weeks for the trip including time in Gib.
We'll leave her in Gib for three weeks, then back out to sail her up to Sant Carles. Probably having a week in Ibiza on the way.

But - sorry Julie. I'm now a raggie. How the mighty have fallen.:D

My cruising plans are simply just do more and more often!

For various reasons work took over much of last year and the weather wasn't so good when I did get the time either. This year will be a bit of a juggle between pushing new project forwards and actually getting out on the water - unless some miracle delivers a 5 day weekend. :) I want the project to be done to the best of my ability irrespective of time/cost - so that rules out this year on both counts  Perhaps wisely, I've kept the little Arrowflyte too.

Therefore, building up experience and distances will be this years main goal and if weather permits, Torquay to Salcombe is on my list! That doesn't sound far but ambitious enough for me in a 14 footer...

This summer I'm moving my berth to Portavadie, Loch Fyne, just for a change of local cruising. Hoping that with the extra drive, we'll stay longer at the boat.

Not to mention the prospect of much cheaper CI diesel!

Ditto boat to San Carles, planning trip to Ibiza via the Columbretes , grand tour of the Balearics with Richard (Sealine school skipper ) to familiarise myself with all the new Garmin toys she has had fitted.
On t'other boat, both daughters are going to learn to helm around the savage and unforgiving shores of Windermere , taking in the air show and boat parade in the companyof the great bunch of folk up there
Life is a b1tch sometimes!
