Some time ago (maybe Mid-2008?) I posted a few pictures taken when cruising northern Norway.
They were well received, there were requests for more, and for relevant information about the places and the venture. I could not respond at that time, but I have now used the new forum facility to compile an illustrated account, with narrative attached to each picture in a roughly chronological order.
Anyone interested can open my 'Arctic Norway' album and progress by scrolling down to the bottom of each panel to click on 'Next Picture' to maintain the sequence and hopefully make sense of the narrative. I think fellow cruising enthusiasts will find some interest in it, and I hope it will inform more than it will bore.
Happy dreaming!

My thanks to "Thistle" for the prompt: "Piotaskipper's album can be reached by clicking on his name at the head of the first post in the thread then scrolling down to 'View public profile' & click; the album is on the right hand side of the screen."

I remember talking to a very posh yottie bloke we knew, on one of my return visits from when I lived over there. I found that he'd been to Lofoten, so I asked how he'd liked it - "Awful - took bloody ages to get anywhere and it was £30 for a bottle of gin!"

Terrible place. I'd never go back. :D

PS - Hope you've got pics of Trollfjord: how the skippers on the Hurtigrute boats have the cojones to get them past the sheer walls, I'll never know.

What a great set of photos.

I too thought Norway was great although we never got further north than Bergen. I would really like to get to the Lofloten Islands.

I really liked anchorages like this

I've cruised all over the North Atlantic - but so far only on Google Earth! Hoping I can translate it into the real thing one of these days. Your photos are certainly inspiring. Well done and thank you.

John

Superb! Many thanks, Piotaskipper.

(For anyone else as ignorant as me, Piotaskipper's album can be reached by clicking on his name at the head of the first post in the thread then scrolling down; the album is on the right hand side of the screen.)
