Cruising Northern French Coast

For our summer holiday (July) we're thinking about taking our Princess 33 to Calais. Then after that we're looking for good food, lazy days and good clean beaches for our 2 kids (10&7).

Question: what's the best way to go?

North towards Dunkirk and Belgium...or south to Bologne and Le Touqet/Etaples?

<font color=blue>Calais has a great beach near the Marina. Dunkirk too (ask the WW2 soldiers). Bolougne's beach is good.
