Hi, I'm planning a bareboat cruise in Croatia in the summer starting from Punat (Krk) which is in the kvarner region. Anyone got any recomendations for quite anchorages, anywhere between Punat and no further south than Ugljan. We got 12 days. We generally avoid Marinas (cos we're tight fisted buggers, no, just to have a quieter time).
Thanks
Paul

Yeah thats Prvic. Thats a little further south that we wanted to go in our 12 days as I think it may leave us short of time to get back to our start point of Punat. But thanks for the suggestion. About 4 years ago we visited the Kornati region and a German yachtsman recommended Mali Rava which was a small empty harbour, a single small restaurant, and like stepping back 50 years. So these places are there they just need a bit of searching. Thanks again Paul

You must be yoking! In 12 days, you won't have enough time to see all the quiet bays of Cres alone...
Anyway, I wouldn't miss Rab: very nice village, and you can moor in the bay just in front of it.
Kolorat, in SE area of Cres, is quiet and nice. The same goes for the three bays in the eastern part of Unije.
And the bay between Ist and Zapuntel, or the Ilovik channel, with their nice restaurants.
Plenty of choice, really.
If quiet anchorages is what you're after, Croatian islands are the best choice of the whole med imho.
Just avoid august if you can.

There is a book listing 777 places to go. PM me and I can give you details.
You are doing just what I want to do in a couple of years time. I have bareboat chartered there for the last 4 yrs, fabulous sailing area.

Thanks I read something somewhere that mentioned Kolowrat and thought it sounded good.
Yead ideally I don't want to go too far each day as the family's main interest is lazing around and swimming, but will indulge dad by being at sea for a couple of hours each day.
thanks, Paul

I've sailed in Croatia two years running (both times out of Bettina on Murter, both times in early May) and it is a wonderful sailing area. Privjc Luca is lovely, as is the tiny island of Kaprije and Katarina Bay (Murter). The only downside is the cost - marinas and even town quays are expensive even by English standards (£25+ per night for a 30 footer + 2 people in a marina, about half that on a town quay with a loo if you're lucky!). We found even the back street restaurants expensive too (although there's a restaurant in Vodice which does steaks like you've never had before ....), so definitely stock up from the fantastic markets and hunt out the anchorages.
