length from masthead to stemhead fitting is 11.2 metres. Would a cruising chute luff of 11.5 metres definitly be too long? Never used one so not sure how loose/taut luff needs to be...Any advice from experienced chute fliers would be appreciated...Also.. how does it work in relation to pulpit....inside/outside?

Hi. If you go onto the Momentum Sails web site there is a PDF file that you can download with all the relevent dimensions on. No connection to the co. but their blurb is easy on the eye.

Chute flies outside of everything. I attach mine to a strop that runs from a cleat and up and under the bowroller. The chute is attached a few inches above the pulpit. On that basis the luff would be shorter than the forestay but obviously it is not pulled tight straight. Mine came with the boat so I haven't measured it but a sailmaker would know.

Beacuse our rig is 7/8ths and the spin halyard is above the forestay, we were advised by sailmaker to get luff=forestay length. But by the time we added the strop at the tack and a snuffer at the head it's now a bit long. Still works well but can't come round closer than 90 deg to wind.
