Hello, I am in the process of looking for my first boat and have seen and I think fallen for a Cruisers International 224, can anyone tell me what the aircraft is as I live on the Nene and there are 2 rather low bridges at 6'10", I am struggling to find any information on this model of boat and obviously don't want to end up with just 5 miles of river to potter up and down lol.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.
Regards, Martin.

Hi there and welcome to the Forums. I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but would suggest you contact one of the more able Brokers such as Guy Girling of Val Wyatt Marine and ask him. Indeed any Broker currently selling one should know the answer it is after all a VERY reasonable question.

We've got one - but it's got a fixed radar arch on it which makes the air draft about 7' 10". If the one you're looking at hasn't got an arch I'm sure you'll be fine, but I'll measure ours tonight if you like.

(It's a lovely little boat, btw!)

Thanks for the replies, I actually had time today to pop to the marina with tape in hand and measured it... 6'8" so it should be ok. However they also have a Seamaster 23 a Freeman 26 in lovely condition both diesels.... I can see this is not going to be an easy decision to make and not something to rush into.... But the cruisers international is lovely!

If all your boating is going to be on rivers/canals then the diesel Freeman sounds great. We've got a Cruisers International 224 - which is lovely! - but it is hugely over-powered for just river use, and petrol is harder to find than diesel. If we were starting now, we'd go for the Freeman, but, as they say, your first boat is never the right boat, so perhaps just follow your heart.

Good luck! (And let us know if you need to know anything about the CI Boat, if you choose that.)

:eagerness: thanks for that, once I have done my coastal course I will hitting the coast to get around the wash and hopefully later on down to the Cornish Coast too. the one I have seen has a Volvo Penta AQ211A inboard which I believe is 211hp, river wise at 6mph what sort of miles to fuel return should I expect? The misses is going to have a look at her later..... That is the final decision being made lol.

We've got the AQ205a, so fairly similar. At 6mph you can probably expect about 4 or 5 mpg. You'll be fine finding petrol on the south coast - but hard to find on the east coast I've heard.
