Passing the Crown Estate, on the way down from Henley on Monday, we spotted a boat tied up on the Crown Estate. On closer inspection it was full of young people out on a jolly.
As we got closer 2 of them waved frantically at us so we went to investigate. Getting even closer we spotted a black 4x4 with 2 ARMED cops on board.
The boat engine had apparently conked out and the kids had drifted onto the nearest bit of land. They had been told to flag down a passing boat for a tow as they had to leave the Crown Estate. No offers of assistance or anything!
I was getting ready to put operation CARLI (sorry Paul /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif into action when their engine sprang to life again.
Arriving at Old Windsor lock and speaking with one of the kids it turns out the cops had apparently turned up in what seemed like seconds! If only normal cops were that efficient!
Good to see tax payers money being spent defending old Queenie from the great unwashed boater!!
