Hi, All going round to the Blackwater tomorrow havent seen or used the new buoyage I always turned in the spitway from No 6 NC on a course 005 degrees , looking at the new buoyage it would seem I need to turn leaving the Inner Whitaker to starboard and the Swallowtail No1to port,
this seems correct, but your advice /confirmation or otherwise would be welcomed.

Depending on your draft and state of tide ...

You don't want to "cut the corner" between Whitaker No.1 and Swallowtail No.1 given that the Swallowtail shoals extend across that area. If you go via that way about you need to sail / motor close past the Inner Whitaker before turning to port towards the Swim Spitway buoy leaving Swallowtail No.1 well to port (how far to port depends on draft and state of tide)

In any case, I favour going North of the Swallowtail rounding the Swallowtail West cardinal mark then keeping Swallowtail No.4 and No.3 to starboard before laying the course direct to the Swin Spitway. It saves the dogleg described above

Hi Brigantia, many thanks for the information and quick reply, Ive always taken the outside route ie past the ridge buoy, but your route seems more straightforward so will give it a try. happy sailing.
