Hi,

Sunseeker portofino 34 AD41B Volvos

Whilst my onboard charger is away being repaired I have been running my engines once a week to keep the batteries topped up.

Today due to the cold temp I was only able to fire up my port motor, starboard was very slow turning over and would not fire up!

OK no probs while the port is running I hold the crossover switch to give the starboard some juice = still slow ??

Investigated the crossover solenoid in the engine bay only to find that the steel terminals that connect the battery cables are very corroded and I'm unable to tighten the nuts that secure the cables rendering the unit useless!!

So my friends where would I be able to source one of these crossover solenoid units?

Have carried out a google but not getting what I want.

Thanks
Rob

They are probably just a standard starter solenoid, if not, one of those or maybe two, if you need to switch both positive or negative will do very well. Easy fit as well. That's what I use.

In the meantime, if you desperately need to start the other engine, jump leads will do the job (good ones).

I took a picture of the unit and went to my local car spares shop. He had one in stock think it was for an old Mini.

Can I just make one point, your starter motor loading is probably around 3 - 5 times more than a mini starter motor.

With the split charge systems I use the split charge relay as the link, in your case I would have used the 125 amp relay, this would give 600 amp stater load, and 1000 amp stall current.

But you could try here, on Ebay, for a diesel tractor, so closer to your amperage, £19 including delivery.

Best of luck.
