crossing the sunk

Karl

Roger's (MoodySabre) post is correct. Go to that page on my site and you can download chartlets for the crossing adjacent to the Barrow No 2 which brings you out to the Black Deep just a bit to the east of Foulger's. But I would recommend from the Whittaker, go round the NE corner of the East Barrow Sands (there is a shallow little finger that extends NE from the sands), but then drop down the side of the Barrow Sands to the SW Sunk swatchway - see the second download on the page that Roger has quoted. The two waypoints shown are fine; really deep on the Barrow Deep side shallowing off as you get to the Black Deep side of the sands but still with 3m LAT and it is perfect for dropping down into Fisherman's Gat. Don't worry about the 'keep out of Fisherman's Gat' that is sometimes said. There is ample room beside the buoyed channel (which is buoyed for ships to denote the 8.3m LAT channel). This give you the most direct route to the North Foreland. Don't worry if you are going through the SW Sunk Swatch at low water and see the drying bank to the SW/W,

there is ample water in the swatch. There was 12ft 10ins water at the shallowest point when the bank (Mystique's Knoll) to the SW/W was like this (Bit of a zoom lens applied there, so the track is not as close to the knoll as this looks - it's nice and easy this year):
