would like to cross the channel and return back to The Netherlands this weekend with max ~ 12 hrs presence in UK.
Looking to the regulations i need to book a covid test in UK upfront my arrival. Though since I will return quickly i was wondering if I am allowed to leave before getting the result of the covid test.

Any experience on this short stay in UK?

The UK has the Netherlands on its amber list. So you, and anyone else on board, need to be fully vaccinated, have a negative test max 3 days before you arrive and have booked and paid for a PCR test to be taken in the UK max 2 days after your arrival. You'll need to submit an online passenger locator form with details of the above.

As I understand it, if you arrive without meeting all of the requirements, then you are in breach of the law, But I'm not sure to what extent these laws are being enforced in UK marinas and other small boat destinations. However, it would be highly irresponsible to land in the UK if you did not meet the vaccination & testing requirements.

Agree it would be irresponsible if someone don't follow the regulations.
Question is if you break the regulation (and being irresponsible) if you as a fully vaccinated person bring a neg pcr test, do a pcr test in UK but leaving UK without the test result of the test done in UK.

No plans to leave the boat in UK and upon arrival back in The Netherlands do another PCR test.
If not in line with regulation i will cross the channel and return without entering any port in UK

I believe that if you are fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR test in the Netherlands in the 3 days before travelling that this will cover you for this short stay in the UK and obviate a two day test here .
I suggest you explore this further as you might well wish to step ashore .
EDIT :
SORRY BUT IF YOU ARE NOT AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER OR TRAVVELLING FOR MEDICAL TREATMENT ETC. THEN THIS SEEMS TO COVER IT :
'If you will be in England for less than 2 days you still need to book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test. You only need to take the test if you are still in England on day 2. '
I suppose this is a failsafe rule .

Incidentally ,are you just coming across to test your brakes ?

For the ones who do have plans to cross the channel

- bring a negative PCR test not older then 3 days at time of arrival in UK even if you're fully vaccinated
- submit the online passenger locator document with the result of the negative PCR test
- pre-book and pre-pay a PCR test in UK
- inform the border force upfront of your arrival
- you can stay in UK till the PCR test has been performed or you're free to leave UK without the PCR test
- depending to your destination in main Europe you need to organize a PCR test or in quarantine

Hope this helps
