Any one out there who can recommend a charter company around the dalmation isles. Im looking for 27-32ft yacht for July/ August, bareboat not flotilla.
Have checked out the websites of various companys, but would love to hear any first hand reports.

Or any one interested in a 2 week boat swap if your boat is based in the Dalmations, in exchange use of 27ft yacht based in Kuwait; summer temps around 50 deg c, no beer and sailing to far north or east may result in you collecting a nice new Iranian made suit, as recently modeled by royal navy personnel. Weight loss and sun stroke guaranteed.

Ok maybe not.

Thanks will check them out, I sailed in that area in the late 80's as a teenager, holiday of a lifeime, loved it.
Started from Split and got almost to Zadr.
Whats the range of prices for mooring overnight in the marinas like.

I would definitely recommend Activity Yachting. They
do bareboat charters on their own boats and boats "hired in" from local owners. I have used them twice (once for a course and once for an ICC assessment/bareboat charter). They are a small outfit with a lot of flexibility and very attractive prices! (By the way, I'm Emjaytoo's SWiMBO!)

you'll find some useful links on my page below. Bear in mind that late July and August are the busiest time of the year - you'd better book soon! Prices in marinas for a 32' yacht are in excess of 30-35 euro.

We rented an Elan 333 out of Split in May last year from PBZ leasing (http://www.pbz-leasing.hr); 1175€/week. We mostly did the islands, and only once stayed overnight in the marina, which as has been told, is very expensive. Very good sailing, lovely scenery. The boat was fine, just a bit too much of a floating caravan for me.

Hi!
We've chartered at http://www.euronautic.cc/ several times now, and never a single problem...
Marinas in Croatia are not cheap, but you can find plenty of dead weight moorings in nice and safe spots. And they are much cheaper... 5-10€
Top holidays season is between 15.7. and 15.8. when Italians are all over the place, and you have to be anchored or moored by 4 PM to get a spot in crowded places...

Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask, I'm sailing those waters since I was 16 /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Huh, flippin' place is full of Brits more like!! It's the charter traffic that means you have to get into a marina by four. But yes, mid-July to mid-August is absolutely top season. Central Dalmatia best avoided...

Every time you embark or disembark crew, you need to go to the harbourmaster's office with their passports and the sheet of paper with the crew list given you by the harbourmaster (so you need to do your crew change within reach of a port of entry - I can give you the list, if you require). You are allowed twice the number of persons the boat is designed to take per annum. Exceptionally, you may be allowed a further 30% capacity if the same skipper is present throughout. Thus, if your boat sleeps 8: 8 x 2 = 16 + (8x30%) = 18 per annum. Unless the rules have changed recently.

No, I think it's the same problem this season...
Only legal way around this limitation is to divide ownership of the boat between more people (your family)... than you multiply the numbers Metabarca gave you, by the number of owners.

I have visited Croatia for the last four years, usually chartering late August. The combination of BA's Split flight on a Saturday, with a short 15 min' transfer to Kastela Marina is a winner. Charter was with 'EU Agent' who have been friendly and relatively cheap except irritating (but not hidden) IBAN money transfer costs. Conversely, I think the outboard was free last time, and the cleaning.

All Croatia has been good to us. Drop anchor in Hvar for lunch and feel special. There was no charge, but perhaps I was lucky. The nearby island is great, with a rope-ashore anchorage on the south side, no charge, and lonelier anchorages further west. Marinas are costly, but avoidable. Beware the Bora! A restaurant's courtesy mooring buoy parted company with the seabed on Scedra and i was aground at 3.30am. Not sure if a Marina would have been better as they can be pretty hair raising at such times too!
