We have booked a one week charter from Kremik (Primosten) in Croatia in the summer.

Any views on the best pilot book for this area and/or particular places to go to or avoid?

Many thanks,

Ed

The Imray Croatia book is not that great. You want the 777 Guide by Karl Bestrandig. 30 euros. You should get it in advance as you will not find it there in English. I got mine from the Italian translators magnamare.com but I heard Kelvin Hughes might now stock it.

Marinestore sell the Croatia Slovenia and Montenegro Pilot, 777 Harbours and Anchorages - Eastern Adriatic £19.50. However, they are currently out of stock waiting for a reprint which they tell me will not be available until March.

If you're going with Sailing Holidays, you'll get a copy of the 777 guide on the boat.

But its a good guide, so if you want to plan before you go, I'd concur with the recommendation.

Make sure you visit Vis, and Hvar. And the Kornatis should not be missed.

Hi
we keep a boat in Zadar a few miles north of primosten and have both the 777 and the imray adriatic pilot
I prefer the imray one simply because its more readable
Its a fantastic area with some beautiful islands your welcome to give me a bell pm me if you want my number
A few must see places are Split (anchor in middle of harbour}
Hvar town beautiful anchorage between the islands half a mile off shore or anchor right in the port (bit swelly)
Vis Ah Vis i love it great place anchor right in the middle of the bay off Vis town
Brac the pretty town of Milna
Also north of Primosten is Sibenik or the famous Skradin beautiful waterfalls inland sea
Also Zlarin pretty port flowers shrubs
Have a good trip
Regards
Mark

I ran flotillas from kremik last summer. Concur with the 777 recommendation - definitely best to have.

Suggest u do skradin (if your there anytime after mid june - do the falls either early morning or teatime as there's too many toursits for it to be enjoyable any other time) and the islands around the Sibinek area - up as far as Murter. Be careful venturing into the Kornati park itself - in our experience the restaurants are overpriced and mediocre and there is a £35 a night park fee as-well on top of your berthing price.
If there's anything specific your looking for send me a pm

I used both last year and the 777 is good for facts and information but for opinions on which places are good to visit then the Imray is much better. They're both cheap so get both. As for places to avoid I would just say that the anchorages are great and the marinas busy. You can always stop every few days in a marina for a wash and brush up. We would pretty much avoid them totally but our teenage daughters insist on decent showers every so often!
