Hi ,
i have the green light to book my family a charter in Croatia early September.

We are 4 adults planning to sail probably 4 hours or so a day and are reasonably experienced charterers UK, France, Canada etc. Looking for mixture of historic and isolated places to overnight but hopefully avoiding crowds and high marina fees.

Any recommendations?
- starting point (its a long coastline. Pula, Split , Dubrovnik etc)
- Charter co's with good reputations
- places to go / to avoid

thanks so much

I would suggest trying to get a charter from the Zadar area as there are many small anchorages and harbours in the local area. It is not so crowded as the Split area. The old part of Zadar is interesting. Small harbours worth a visit within 4 hours are Molat on the island of Molat, Sali and Bribinj on the Island of Dugi Otok, Kukljica on the island of Ugljan (only a few miles form Zadar), and U. Soline on the east coast of Pasman.
All these have a "small" overnight charge which, this year, was about 150 to 200 kuna for a 9.5 m yacht.
I have cruised in croatia for 2 to 3 months a year for the last 5 years and find the area south of the Istria and north of Split to be the most pleasant and least crowded.
Beware of the Kornati national park as there is a significant charge to anchor or pick up a buoy there.
Sorry can't help with the charter companies as I have my own yacht based in NE Italy.
I have noticed that some charter boat do not have spray hoods or binimi's. I would consider them essential as even in September the sun can be very hot. so you need to check with the charter company. By the way, take snorkel gear as the water will be around 23 degrees and very clear. There is lots to see.
