Question for those keeping their boats in Croatia

Have you ever bought pieces of gear in Europe having them shipped to croatia with "yacht in transit" mention, so as not to pay vat ?

does it work?

thanks r

I have a British registered ex VAT boat that I am moving from UK to the Red Sea all be it very slowly. I have purchased ex vat this winter davits,RIB,hydrovane and six sails all ex vat which have been shipped to the boat within the EC. However I do have an address and am non resident within the EU as I have been working in the Middle East for some years. Many of the suppliers checked up with the UK VAT office and were told that what I was doing was OK. The boat is technically in transit. My advice would be to find a friend who has an address outside the EU.

Yes Roberto, my friend with US registration just order spare parts for his "boat in transit" and no pay VAT. He tell me that he spent unfortunatelly 2 hours on Custom office but everything was OK.
