Off through the Crinan canal for the first time this weekend ( hopefully if the weather is kind and lets us get there)

Looking forward to it. Anyone else planning his passage shortly ?

Got some assitance booked so all should be well. Then heading up to Oban and around for a week before making the return passage.

Heres hoping for some suitable mobo weather

Good you have assistance, especially if the weathers not great. Make sure you've got 2 reasonably long ropes and plenty of fenders. There are some good food/drink stops, especially the Cairnbaan Hotel which is good a place as any to meet your helper (if your entering from Loch Fyne). Last time we went through we stayed on a pontoon at the Cairnbaan overnight, had a great meal and then left in the morning to go thru all the locks. Enjoy..

Made it to Tarbert ok. Bit lumpy at Ardrossan and had to dodge through the sialing racers but otherwise it was fine. Fantastic day and evening here in Tarbert , not quite sure why the forecast was so wrong. I assume we are sitting right in the middle of the low pressure.Ltts hope its wrong for tomorrow to for our onward journey !

Weather forecast barmy ! Great sail up to Arsrishaig and straight into sea lock. Def worth having a help from a fellow forumer as he had given them the nod we were coming. Great assitance and we stopped overnight at Cairbaan then set of this morning for the other 11 locks and here we are at Ardfern. Absolutely perfect weather and the sun splitting the sky. Have never ventured out here before and it is amazing.
Lets hope we dont get caught out with the forecast being wrong the other way !
Looking forward to the forecast being wrong again tomorrow and getting even more sun burn for our onward journey to Oban.

For anyone contemplating the Crinan , get a hand as its well worth it.

Yup, the weather was sunny on Saturday....eventually! We must have passed as we came into the canal at Crinan on Friday. Enjoy the onward trip.

Thats us back through the canal with the expert help of Joe. Huge thanks to him .

I have to say the whole experience was first class the the Crinan Canal is well kept , neat and tidy with tidy clean showers and toilets and friendly staff. Its a real credit to Scotland.
