For a around 100 years this Oast house has graced the view from the river bank at Yalding.

This hideous and tacky disaster now dominates the riverbank opposite.
How the hell did the owners of the caravan site get this offensive horror through planning.

Who was responsible for THIS award ?

Perhaps we need an annual "EYESORE of the RIVER AWARD" thread. For the most inappropiate riverside development ?
Ps.The block of flats just below Teddington Lock is a given :)

'cos they're not of sufficient height and "temporary" (!!!) - go figure.

If you also notice the advertising board for the temp homes they all show the river but only the one you pictured actually has a view:D
Last time i went there was only one more behind it.

In a similar vein who gave permission to build the eye-sores next to Chertsey Bridge on the Thames.

Quite agree - but as long as you provide some social housing as part of the development which this site did (not the riverside ones obviously) it invariably will go through.

That looks like a Park Home site. IIRC once planning permission for the site has been given, then the site owner can choose the type of home he installs providing he keeps within the terms of his licence.

P.S. I think the sign refers to the moorings.

Yes its the period you can moor 72 hours and charges... £6.00 a day.

Poor old Fred got absolutely fed up with peeps at locks commenting on how great the Hardy looks and wanting to know more about it :D

Did not have the heart to mention they actually really wanted to know if the boat had some sort of "Stanna Stairlift" installed !
