What browsers are you two (Brendan and the rude one) using?

The website looks perfect to me, so I guess you two are being trendy and using Firefox. I expect there is some dodgy unclosed table tag in the HTML . . . IE doesn't care, but FF is a purist.

Don't worry Missee Mollie - most of the world is still using Internet Explorer, and your site looks great in that.

I'm on IE. I have Firefox too, but haven't tried it on the site.
Suspect it may be a resolutions setting thing, but haven't been bothered to experiment - that's the web designers job, not mine.
Can post screenshots of what I see if that helps

I am running Mozilla and it looks good to me. Agree that jmirvine could have been a tad more circumspect, after all what has the poor bloke done but post a website and asked a polite question?
I wish him well with his dream trip.... just a pity I wont be ready for another 8 years.

Wind your neck in Jimirvine, who needs unhelpful obnoxious posts like yours?

The website looks just fine on my browser, Misseemollie is looking for crew and not entering a website building competition.
Just as well you cant read half it because I don't reckon he would want you any where near his yacht anyway, so take a hike.

Works fine for me on XP/IE6. Looks a pretty good effort to me and provides a good insight into what is planned for any prospective crew that read it. Good luck!

Works OK for me on my BT browser. I wish I could create a web site as good as his.

Perhaps someone who knows about computers will help you out and explain why you have a problem!!! Paul

I do know about computers. If you read around the forums, you'll often see me helping people out.

The problem here is a text size setting on IE. I have a large screen, so had text size on 'smallest'. The site has a problem if using text sizes 'smaller' or 'smallest', and will apply to everyone that has their settings this way.

This can be fixed by coding the site to use fixed or proportional text sizes

Apologies

I'm sorry if I have offended anyone, but when I open a link I expect to be able to read what's there.

I shall try to be more diplomatic and PC in future.

Nothing wrong with his web site to me.

Wish I could do that with him what an adventure mind you would have liked to have gone round the pointed bit at South America rather than go thro the canal

Just think 5-6 years away from the old woman .... Heaven

I seem to have deeply offended jmirvine and BrendanS with my first attempt at producing a website. Sorry guys, I'm not a geek, I hate 'puters, I just like the great outdoors. Notwithstanding my website not being up to your exacting standards (or at least not being compatible with your kit) I find your comments very off side. A discrete PM giving constructive advice would have been appreciated. I'm not easily annoyed, but receiving public derogatory and downright rude comments on a public forum leaves me very angry, particularly given the hitherto fine worldwide reputation of this (normally) well disciplined forum.

Sincere thanks to webcraft, jmdew, stevieT, Blue Man, pvr, johnnygil and others for your support. I'm relieved the good guys outnumber the bad.

That said, jmirvine has taken the wind out of my sales - I'll advertise my intent elsewhere - GOODBYE YBW.COM /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Who says I'm offended? I just posted that I too couldn't actually read the site. I then went and found the problem when I had time, and posted the cause and solution. Sorry if you didn't find that helpful, but you can bet if Jim and I couldn't read it, there would have been many other forumites having same issue

Re: Please dont give up on the forum.

Looking at your website(works fine for me)makes me wish I could apply to go with you.Family commitments wont allow me .

Please dont be put off the forum by a few rude replies.I am positive that many hundreds of like minded people would love to see you on scuttlebut or reader to reader forums.

I like your boat. She looks as though she could combine heavy weather ability with a decent turn of speed in more favourable conditions.

Best of luck with the project. I will keep an eye out for updates on your website and would love to see you on the forums. As would the huge majority of other forum users I suspect.

try a call for crew on the Scuttlebut site. It will get more hits than this site even though technically you have posted in the right place.

Re: Please dont give up on the forum.

Thanks Graham. Following your comments and many others, I'll rekindle my interest in YBW. I guess I was a little hasty in tarring you all with the same brush - my apologies. It was just a pity that the obnoxious Billy No Mates was the first to reply - obviously he has nothing better to do with his time. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
