As i rest in my bunk whilst skippering, I'd like to keep an eye on my crew. Can anyone suggest suitable equipment with low power draw and suggestions as to where best to site the surveillance equipment?
Eye camera on the mast under the boom looking aft.
Another on the binnacle to register the fear on the helmsmans face close to.
Alternative is to note the motion when you lie down in the aft cabin. If it changes significantly, wake up and shout through the aft cabin window into the cockpit.
This is obviously voyeurism, and not to be commended
spect you'll be bugging their cabins next, to hear what
they are saying about (capt Bligh syndrome i expect)
Possibly early stages of marine paranoia i should'nt
wonder

I'm rather perplexed that you post this.
You will recall when parahandy cut my lovely new piece of Dyneema after his monumental balls-up of a calculation concerning the extendable Spinnaker Pole and your immediate and what I thought a particularly succinct observation...
"Ferfecksake Claysie - ye needs eyes up yer airse when these buggersis aboot"
Hmmm... Jimi is right to be cautious. Excuse my reprising an old thread:
So, my advice is to emerge stealthily and unannounced from time to time, posting evidence of any unsatisfactory results here. This will result in either (a) a very tight ship or (b) a profound crew shortage.
jamesie wus thinking youse'd be unwise tae step oot in oban wearin' yer seterday nicht ootfit orra twin-set and pearls. nothing to do with ony bit o' string
It depends why you want to keep an eye on them. If it is just so you can keep all the biscuits for yourself, perhaps it is easier just to lock up the biscuits.
I think the cameras I need will have to be image stabilised which will be expensive so I'm thinking of instituting a watch system, perhaps colour coded .. do you think it'll work?
