Crew pick up at Poole Quay

We stopped on Poole Quay for a short trip to do the shopping this summer. The harbour master (deputy/staff??) was very helpful and then very apologetic when a work platform returned to its berth early. We had to shift along a bit but no real problem to them. We hadn't booked, just turned up.
So yes, for a crew change, no problem.

Ive done the same and expected to pay, but it was FOC. I do like an overnight there for food shopping plus a few pubs ... Staff have always been friendly and helpful.

When the 'new' marina was built and boats were no longer rafted off the quay, there was a free 2hour 'short stay' provision written in but I cant remember what it was written into! so provided that things haven't changed (but it's probably been conveniently forgotten about) you can tie up on the quay free for up to 2 hours.

Yes, when we asked if we'd be OK for 2 -3 hours for lunch and shopping we were told 'that's fine'. There was no mention of a charge (and I didn't ask).
