All ten crew of Polish 14m. yacht RZESZOWIAK were rescued this evening by helicopter 80 miles west of the Faeroes. Three helicopters and three trawlers were involved in airlifting eight males and two females in poor conditions after dismasting. Wave height was up to twelve metres and one of the crew said to be unconscious. She came to Reykjavík early this summer, and was on her way south after cruising to Greenland and the north of Iceland.
Could have turned out much worse...

12METRE waves!
Good result in these sort of conditions.
On a lighter note, wouldn't want to do the phonetic spelling on that name----pronounced "sheshoviak'" I think?

I'll take your word for the pronunciation!
Only detail that has emerged since first posting is that destination was Edinburgh.
As you say, a good result.
