Crete tides

Hello,
Sorry for the marginal boaty post. We are having a holiday in Crete in June and wondered what the tides would be on or near to 25 th June. Reason is that we would like to visit an island (the one with Pink beaches) and you can walk across to it at low water. My tide app does not do Crete and wondered if anyone could advise.

I am surprised that the tides in Crete have any significant variation. Throughout the Dodecanese the range is imperceptible, maybe 15 cm? I believe that there is a maximum range of about 1 metre in a couple of places in the Med, e.g. North end of the Adriatic, but that's a long way from Crete. I shall be interested to see if anyone knows better.

Vyv's right. If you can walk to the island at low water, I imagine you can walk to it at high water, although you might make a small splash as you go. Barometric pressure has as much effect on sea height as tides, sometimes more.

Colin: checked with someone local. Presume you mean Elafonissi Beach, at the SW corner of Crete. Apparently you wade out to the island. Tides not an issue (except perhaps for very short people).

No tides (the way we have them here) in Crete; only currents. As vyv said, the range is negligible, for example the range in Piraeus (port of Athens) is no more than 100mm.

I suspect sea-state may be more of an issue. That's not a stroll you'd want to undertake in a southerly blow (luckily rare in high summer).
