Holed up with Raven & family on Borth-y-Gest beach yesterday, when I stop the conversation to point out a family trying (and failing) to row in against the outgoing race. It went from funny to serious in just a minute.
The current took them in toward Danger Rock (there's a clue in the name if you look carefully) so I jumped in the dinghy (aka Crazy Frog) and got to them just as they went on the rocks. Chucked them a line and towed them off with some difficulty. Little 3.5 yammy was struggling. I got them to centre channel and Raven pitched in with his Shetland and towed them back in with the harbour master buzzing around on his jet-ski.
The dinghy was a wreck and was obviously overloaded with family and dog. What was most bizarre though was their apparent lack of concern at being dashed to bits by rocks in a racing rip current with sizable standing waves /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif
