Spent Sunday afternoon removing the sea toilet from my Princess 32 as river based and decided to stick with good old PortaPotti for simplicity and economy.
Sea cocks absolutely solid and bloody impossible to access easily with spanners.
Worst problem though was undoing various nuts and bolts securing bog to fibreglass mouldings - many fixings were non stainless and rusted solid. Again bloody difficult to access and finally resorted to downright butchery to get the thing out.
Why oh why do reputable boat builders not give more consideration to need for future maintenance and WHY must they use non stainless fastenings!!!! What should have been a one hour job at max took all afternoon and left me feeling I'd been through ten rounds with BIg Daddy.
Managed to get the main sea cock out reasonably easily (seized solid in 'open' position!) and well impressed with hull thickness - must be at least 1" thick - but smaller inlet seacock a different story with plastic hose spigot impossible to remove from inboard side (snapped off eventually) and rusted valve wheel again showing what happens when you scrimp a bob or two on materials.
Thank you for sharing these moments with me ...............
