Oh come on. A cry for help. The crap boats are called TP52s. I say this with all seriousness. Well perhaps with some humor. More crap for your money than anything on the water. Does anyone really think otherwise?
Take a 20 year old design (called a Santa Cruse 52) wrap a box rule around it, get Farr involved and then have US Sailing appear to bless the crap. Even after the GP folks reject the notion of 128 stability, and indead any stability requirments, so that the world can have canting keel and water ballasted designs, continue to push your vested interests. Even when the notion of 128 stability is shown as stupid because no amount of wind can capsize a vessel with 110 stability still create an organization called ORCA.
Make prospects think ORCA has been around since the 70s so its only purpose, which is to support obsolete TP52 design, is obscured. It has been in existence only since May of 2004. The TP52s were obsolete the minite the GP RWP eliminated 128 stability. This TP52 design just must carry to much weight to be competitive with the new ocean racing designs. Weight is the enemy.
But ignore obsolecence. Get the King of Spain to put obsolete Farr TP52 molds in country and anounce how great it is that there will be a wopping 19 of these POC (piece of crap) boats on the water BY THE END OF 2005. Farr of course drops development and moves to Volvo70 design standards. They arn't stupid.
But even then get your dog Jim Teeters, former director of research at US sailing, to doctor up a video, making the Mac26x look like a child killer for no other reason than to halt advancement of movable ballast designs. Get him also to abroagate any relations US Sailing has with the GP Rule Working Committee and then tell Farr to tell the King that if TP52s do not work out on the Med, that they can be dumped on the used US Market. See Teeters get discredited in US court. Oh have management consultants recommend a complete reorganization of US Sailing, in effect firing TP52 supporters, have the CEO of US Sailing resign, have US sailors abandon the organizaton after the worst showing in the Olympics in 60 years. (does anyone really think the Torando silver wasn't cheating?)
More Crap has been smeered by TP52s, and efforts to support them, than any other vessel type in recent history. Ignore the continued success of the SC70s. Claim TP52s are the premier ocean racer regardless. Claim that they are important by "market capitalization". Ignore that 5000 Mac26x hulls equals 20 TP 52 hulls in market captitalization.
I think there are more than 19 SC70s. Why are they not premier? TP stands for Teeter Principle or Toilet Paper. TP is appropriate for the Crap boats of all time. Make prospects think they are Trans Pacific boats when at least 3 are specific for Atlantic use and they have already been beat by smaller vessels in the TransPac out of Vancouver Canada. Oh if any are not raced, rename them TP53s or SC52s because 100 percent of the TP52s will be race class that way. Have them race against Mac26x boats in the West Marine Transpac. Well water ballasted vessels of 24 foot and above are allowed in that race - it could happen.
To much factually correct for this to be funny. It is a tragedy really. But not for MacGregor Yachts. These Mac26x boats are being produced down under. That is hardly something you would expect for a crap boat. Now don't tell me TP52s are produced in Austrailia. That will bust my fantasy. /forums/images/icons/smile.gif
