Evening...

Any reason why I shouldn't insure with Craftinsure? They are the cheapest quote - appear to cover the same risks as others and have a nice, friendly website.

Anyone have an opinion?

The only thing that occurs to me is that they cover Bordeaux to Stavanger (in the summer) and I might wish to extend the cover to the Med next year.

Of course I shall ask them in the morning but they are currently closed - does anyone know if they offer extensions to the cruising area?

Great to deal with and consistently cheapest. I made a claim and they were very helpful, letting me make the final decision as to where to get the repair done.

In my first year with them I made a major claim within two months of the start of the policy - they paid up without murmur, and were very helpful/supportive throughout what was a pretty traumatic time....

This is my second year and I was expecting a massive hike in my premium - no such thing, was within a quid of last year - and I would have stayed with them anyway...

Can't comment on the cruising coverage but I would wholeheartedly recommend them - nice people...

Unfortunately I had nothing but bad experiences with Craftinsure. Boat was hit by another while it was on its home mooring and rudder was damaged and the blue painted hull was damaged along one side. This happened while no one was around so the culprit never owned up. To cut a long story short, Craftinsure didn't want to pay up to paint the hull as that was 'betterment' and were bordering on the obnoxious. Only after I expressed an interest in the complaints proceedure did we reach a compromise that was still more favourable to them. A quote from their senior claims guy was 'Well, you don't pay a large premium so you can't expect brilliant coverage' - their words not mine!!! Avoid if possible

+1 I have been with them since I got my first boat about 10 ago. Very competative price and always a pleasure to deal with.

I made a claim several years ago when my boat was subject to a hit and run. They dealt with it very promptly and often replied to emails within hours.
