Hi,

Can anyone tell me roughly how much a yard cradle for a 34' yacht weighs ? The type I am interested in is the collapsible type which is a central ladder part with keel guides and two cross pieces with side strips all made in steel angle / rectangular x-section tube. There are 4 acroprops to hold the yacht and a fifth to support the bow.

I'm also interested to know how much it would cost to buy new because I will need to weigh this against the cost of shipping it down from up north.

Thanks,

Boo2

I made mine with six acro props and 4" square section base with 2" bar joiners. Very simple and it all fits in the back of the car. You can however get much heavier and less collapsable versions. Got a pic?

Cradle

Most boats I have dealt with have been stern heavy so an acro under the stern and or a rope at the bow to pull the bow down. Or an acro front and back. good luck olewill

Thanks for the replies but I really need a rough weight estimate so I can discover what it will cost to transport down here from 'oop N. I haven't a pic, but it's pretty normal looking...

Sorry I wasn't clear before,

For mine, each leg setup is around 60kg and for an SO34.2 I have 6 legs total 360kg equivelant to 4 adults. If there is a keel section, you'd need to add that on. For the bow I just use an old fence post.
