Good Afternoon, I have been offered a trog at Crackmore Hard Sailing Club in Southapton. I was wondering if anyone had anything that they can tell me about this sailing club.
Any news good or bad greatly recieved. Jordan Boon

From memory, when the website was working they offer the cheapest moorings in the area. However they do not have a clubhouse or any lift out facilities. I think they have an arrangement with Marchwood club further up the Test so that their clubhouse can be used at times and also the pontoons to pick crew up.

From what I remember they have two rows of ten trot moorings (with a pile at each end of the row).. and then another couple of rows of ten closer to shore. Very short row out from Cracknore Hard. Best to beach the dinghy at mid tide or above but if the tide is lower then you can avoid the mud - other members would show you how.

The outer rows of moorings are the deepest and with your 6' draught I would have thought the southernmost end of either of these two rows would keep you off the bottom at all but the lowest of spring tides. As previously mentioned - meetings are in Marchwood yacht club and there is a full committee, newsletter, organised sails and meals etc...

Not sure why their website is not working.

I was a member and kept my boat there until last year.
Great little club that exists to administer the mooriings it owns at Marchwood. No club house but as already stated, reciprocal arrangement with Marchwood SC to use its club house for meetings and to use their pontoons for loading when needed. Everybody very friendly and help each other out. Couple of rallys and 2 or 3 social events a year plus monthly meeting at Marchwood SC. There is a small dinghy parking area by Cracknore Hard slipway and a container where mooring gear is kept. Outer row of trots have about 5ft of water at low water neaps so you will sink into soft mud on most tides. Dinghy access at all states of tide provided you don't mind wading off the end of the slipway into mud. Members will tell you when you can get in and out without getting muddy!
Main downside is the amount of traffic up and down Southampton Water. The boat will roll quite a lot on the mooring, keeping a thin film of water on the topsides unless you antifouling is well abover the water line. This means you will get growth quite high up so raise your waterline. Very irritating the first year but you don't let it happen a second time!
