We are on a bouy at Yarmouth. All is calm , except ... I figured it must be rain , light rain.., but no. Sounds like a crumpled plastic bag expanding , but from all over the hull , any ideas. ?? Thanks.

It happens up here in Scotland and IIRC from a previous forum post it is the bugs in the water making a noise and being amplified through your hull.

Up on the Great Barrier Reef the Parrot fish graze on a weedy hull (the AF has never been reported as doing them harm) and you can here the whales singing as they pass by. The latter is a bit surreal.

Brilliant stuff thanks. I had concluded that it must be some form of marine life , it’s 5am now and they are still crackling away , nearly time for my rice crispies !!
I was worried that it was an electrical fault , light switches make a similar noise when wet , but a. It’s not 240v , b, it comes from all over the boat , and c . It carried on with batteries Isolated. !
