Cracking day for a sail...

We were out ther too, but in the Backwaters. Saw one other sail heading out of the Pye channel and that was it. The Walton chanel and the Twizzle are completely empty, how nice to sail up there and only have buoys to avoid!

A glorious day, even in the brief snowstorm which put an inch of snow on the decks. Now I know why we kept her in this winter!

Sorry - no photos, we left the camera at home :(

Josephine

I think the yacht in the pic under full sail is the Josephine, sat in Haven Marina now...

Passed us as we were sat on a bouy having a cuppa.

We get out of Neptune as often as possible, heading south soon!

Saturday was a great day for sail

That's definitely Josephine on our way from St Katharines to Ipswich Haven. We enjoyed tacking up the Orwell past the docks to the lockgates before sails came down. The mooring buoys without boats gave us space and our tacking guide -J draws 3.5m with swing keel down.
The helm job for Vicky was chilly, but the tacking kept the winchman Rhodri warm -only just time for coffee and biscuits between tacks around the Butt and Oyster turn in the river.
The shores and river sparkled. The New North sails make a real difference to how high J heads and she sailed beautifully- gracias Andre Hoek. The maincover was just on before the snow came, brrrr!

The piccy is a good one. I have saved it and will see if I can make it into a good print.
Thank you for sharing it.
