I've been using CPC for electrical bits since they were recommended by good old Nigel Mercier and have been very satisfied with products, price and service. However, I've come slightly unstuck with my latest purchase. This was a watch battery priced about £1.50 I'd pressed the 'purchase' button before I realised they'd added a handling charge of £3.50 making the item much more than other sources.
I think this is only applied to small orders where their free P & P policy is uneconomic. The moral is "Read the details" before you buy.

I think CPC have always done that - but there are usually plenty of things I can add to get to the free delivery amount.

As another interesting point CPC can sometimes be selling the same item for different prices. Special offers in their leaflets have an additional couple of digits on their code and if you just search for the same item on their site without using the code you can end up paying more.

Not only delivery charges may not be added until the checkout but in some cases retailers may initially show the price excluding VAT. This is often so when looking for filters and oil.

RS send anything out with p&p included.. Makes me laugh as they deliver everything via parcel farce, must cost them a fortune.

I haven't checked many items but I get the impression that RS is very expensive; maybe less so when it comes to the final bill.

Since RS introduced the free delivery what is noticeable is that they have much increased the minimum purchase number on many components. Often the minimum is hundreds or thousands. RS claim that they are a B2B supplier so are not interested in private individuals buying 1 or 2 items.
