I'm searching the internet for information about these boats, built by Cox Marine in Brightlingsea, Essex (long gone). There are a few for sale, no owners' association, nothing on sailboat data. Apparently when they were first launched in the 80's there were some magazine reviews. Does anybody know anything?

Coda, you will probably get a better response if you post your query on the Scuttlebutt forum, or even the PBO forum.

YM had this very brief review of the 27:

For reference for other readers, here are a few for sale :

Hi, I can provide some info on these somewhat-forgotten boats, having owned 3 of them (including one which is currently for sale - long story!).

For a deck-saloon motor-sailer, offering both internal helm and tiller, they take some beating. Robust, roomy and safe, triple keel to take the ground when required, and with behind-mast furling (on most of them) easy for single-handed sailing. Stronger construction and more powerful than a Hunter Pilot (40 HP vs 14!), more compact and better helming visibility than a Westerly Konsort Duo, cheaper and more practical layout than a Fisher or LM. They were highly rated when new, as was their better-known little sister the Master Mariner 22.

The one I have for sale has some historic interest, being hull #1. Previously in North Wales, she's now in Tollesbury, Essex:

I've toyed with trying to coordinate dialogue with other Cox 27 owners, and would be keen to hear from anyone else interested in that. I'm also happy to have a go at answering other questions about these boats...

Hello I am also a Cox 27 owner and since owning mine I have never seen another. Mine is called Seajay and is on the North norfolk coast. Any more Cox owners on here?

Here's the boats I'm aware of:

Zovare (formerly Nova), 1982, Mercedes OM636, now in Cork, Ireland
Venture, 1989, Yanmar 4JHE, Falmouth
Ruby (formerly Pando II), 1990, Yanmar 3HM, Loch Goil, Argyll (my current boat)
Tranquillity II, 1994, Yanmar 3HM, Pembrokeshire
SeaJay, 1989, Yanmar 3HM, North Norfolk

Tranquillity II is currently for sale here: https://yachts.apolloduck.co.uk/boats.phtml?id=1317&mi=11404

There's also a for-sale listing out there for your boat SeaJay, but it seems remarkably cheap and is listed as "Chinese", so I wasn't sure if the listing was genuine?

That's very interesting information Thank you.
The add for my boat is I think an old one that's been copied . That explains the number of people asking if I want to sell! I like the idea of a Cox marine owners group.
