My outboard is looking a little tatty and i want to paint and put new stickers on . Any ideas on the best paint to use and where to get the stickers please ?

The tatier the cowling looks, the less likely it will be stolen. Make up a nice canvas cover for it for when you want to look nice, and remove it when you leave the boat.

Agree but even someone dumb enough to steal would be able to tell its a 70,s 2 stroke with a paint job .

Correct paint for aluminium legs available at most chandlers - there's a guy on ebay who specialises in reproducing outboars stickers...do a search for outboard and you'll find him. Personally, I think I'd make it look as rough as possible to deter theft. At the end of the day it's a tool, and if it works and isn't corroding, I wouldn't fix it!

I repaint part of my cowling with auto paint match cause it is close enough and a lot cheaper.
Should be able to buy the decals (at a price!) from the spares people.

Entirely agree!! When I bought my Yam 2 back along, I fitted the 21 year old Mariner 2 cowling which was, and is, foul looking!!
No chance of ANYONE pinching my outboard in favour of all those lovely shiney ones they see everywhere!!
