I was moored a couple of boats down from you in Dartmouth, I admire your commitment for leaving in the rain to head for Torquay.
I wish I had gone aswell but was concerned that I would not get back to the Dart by friday in time for the regatta and to go home on the saturday.
The weather reports were so in consistent I couldnt take a chance.

Rain was ok shooting round to Torquay, swell was lumpy.
It was the run back round Lyme Bay that knocked us about!

Any ideas what happened to Gee and 747 as both retired from race?

Not sure about Gee.
I know the 747 owner and one of the crew well, they were getting a right pasting, averaging 22 knots, needed to average 30 knots to complete the course in the time limit so they retired.

I think Gee got back but it took them about 9 hours, so they were timed out rather than retiring?
