I'm assuming this race will actually finish in Monte Carlo, or somewhere spectacularly close to it - from a spectator perspective - I would imagine. I am therefore wondering if it will live up to its title and start in Cowes and not far away in the western approaches to the Solent as per last years Cowes to Torquay?

I expect it will start off cowes just like this years cowes torquay race will! There is history to why last years ctc race started west of cowes but the race organisers have done a HUGE amount of work to allow a true cowes start again.

Cowes to monte Carlo will be an amazing event powerboat racers and spectators alike!

That's good news ... and I hope the race organisers will increase efforts to communicate with the public. At last years CTC there were interested spectators on The Parade awaiting a Cowes start when the fleet were already under starters order in the Needles Channel! Some extra effort (and investment?) in the PR would do much to enhance the image and interest in such events.

Mike Lloyd (Cowes Monte organiser) doesn't post on here (must be the only forum he doesn't) Boatmad.com is a more performance and race orientated forum and you will find regular updates about this race and RB12 on there (that's starting and finishing in Weymouth). There is also information about all of the other UK and some foreign races on there as well as water ski racing.

It wont actually end in Monte Carlo; it will end in Monaco. Scuse the pedantry, but Monaco is the "country" and Monte Carlo is merely one if the 5 districts (quartiers) within Monaco. Monte Carlo itself (the east end of Monaco) has no ports: the big port is in the district called Condamine and the smaller port is in Fontvieille district. In view of the fact the finishing line will be in the sea it isn't possible to say the race ends in Monte Carlo. I'd expect the best spectator views are from Monaco Ville (the old town), up on the cliff overlooking the sea, or from a boat obviously

All 100% correct J, but dontcha think that most folks would assume that a Cowes-Monaco race would have to see with driving through France and Germany...? :D

PS: whoops, on second thought, maybe not.
It just popped to my mind that München is "Monaco" just in Italian, but "Munich" in English, I reckon...
