Weren't they good this year? Moored up in time to see the crazy stunt pilot do his stuff and enjoyed the world and his auntie arriving and anchoring. Usual mix of those who put steaming lights on once the hook was down or put their anchor light on when leaving. Think we should congratulate the combined clubs for the display.
Watched the Fastnet race start from the Needles channel on Sunday - some interesting windshifts at Hurst castle caught a few out and the slower ones will only have just got out before the tide changed. Does anyone know of a website which updates the positions of the fleet - rather than just the leader?

Is it me or is the Fastnet bit of the RORC website pants? The progress & position reports very dull & uninspired and really hard work to find what you want.... in this day and age I would have expected some kind of basic graphics to show the latest (or last known) positions?

Yes, they were very good. We anchored to watch them. When we came to leave we found that a motorboat had fouled our chain and we had a devil of a job getting separated! All very entertaining in the dark as the ebb tide carried us both down onto the boats anchored off The Green. We had two people on the boat who had never been on the water before and assumed that all the shouting and swearing was normal practice!! Next year I think I will anchor over by the Brambles.....

Was the boat a Sealine 49 called so special with a man and woman on board? If so I know the miscreants from a former life and he has confessed to me! Tried to send you a pm but they are disabled. Let me know if there is a problem. Regards

I watched you anchor chain fouled fiasco with the motorboat I think, was there a Swordsman 37 mobo just off ashore of you? I was just up stream inshore a little bit, looked like it took a long time to sort out

<hr width=100% size=1>Sod the Healey - I think I'll buy an E-Type.

Great until.....

The windlass jammed, shortly after the stunt pilot...an hour and a bit later it was all sorted, tho the relay wasn't playing to the same tune as I, so everything was done by hand!!

About 9ish, I turned to my girlfriend and said how lucky we were to find the spot we had and stayed put, astern of Hugo Boss and ahead of Venom, with no one dragging towards us or able to drop thier hook ahead of us because of the RIBS tied astern of Hugo B...so we continued lounging in the cockpit of the MBY Nimbus...until at 9.05 when the anchor started dragging....what a pain...tried anchoring three times all to no avail so held Prospector into the tide for the next hour until the fireworks were over.

Found a nice little spot as was able to glide from side to side as we watched others trying to anchor where we had dragged, then settled down to watch the great display....the only good thing that came of the anchor dragging was that we were able to make a quick get away before the real fireworks started!!

It was not that big and there were loads of people on board but I could not see the name as our bows were locked together! I think that they were based in Chichester. There is no damage so no problem. It was just one of those things I guess in a very crowded area! I could see that he was having trouble anchoring as he just did not have enough chain. He simply dragged down past us collecting our chain on the way. He then lay in line with us about five feet from our push-pit for the duration of the fire-works!! All good fun. Thanks anyway.

Yes it did take a while. The two knot tide made it fun as did the mad rush back into Cowes by everyone else at the same time! I was about to cut the whole lot away on a sinking line and fender. I had noted the lat and long for the diver when we got free. All the best. (I must remember to remember that I cut the line attaching the very end of the chain to the bottom on the chain locker next time I drop the hook in deep water!!!)
