cover my boat. strange phone call.

Just had a rather strange call from someone claiming to be from my boat insurers,Cover My Boat. She reminds me my insurance is up for renewal,which is correct. She tells me the website is being rebuilt and therefore some other broker will handle my insurance from now on. I asked why I need the website to renew my insurance. Did not get a clear answer to this question. I just do not understand. How long does it take to modify/rebuild a website. I asked "is this for the long term"? Yes was her answer. Is there anyone else with Cover My Boat? Im intrigued. Can they be in trouble?

so they have summarily dumped you on another broker without consultation because they can't handle you. As you are due for renewal - I would walk.

Thats how it seems. I have tried calling them all morning. No one answers. The web site indicates "under maintainance". I fear the worst.

I dont think so. If you look further than the front page ie try to get a quote,you will find "site under reconstruction".

Seems a long time to be performing maintenance ?

As it's up for renewal, i'd run. Try Porthcawl insurance, they gave me a very good quote and service.

Cover My Boat....not any longer

OK,I have now established Cover My Boat has in fact been bought by Blue Fin marine insurance. I discovered this by devious means, ie calling Cover My House and asking for house insurance. I then mentioned Cover My Boat,and was told the truth. Why cant these people be upfront? I even asked the company owners ,and was told by the desk all was ok. All that rubbish about web site maintainance. Exhasperating !!!******!!*

Yep - been with GJW for years - always straight forward to deal with, though you have to watch the premiums don't creep up too much.

Me too. Decided to get other quotes for my recent renewal and thus negotiated a 20% reduction in premium.

I found that GJW didn't want to insure me for a year, only April through to November they wanted the boat out of the water for 5 months!

I've been with GJW for years with my ski boat and recently had a quote for the Liz 30 i'm currently buying and was more than happy with the premium they quoted and that was for 12 months in commission on its mooring.
