Good morning

My wife and I were looking for cover makers - we have called round a few but all we need is a simple sail cover and the lead times seem very long. One company we had been told were quick who were at Woolverstone dissolved before Christmas so now I am at a loss.

Thanks
Tim

Sail and Cover? Very sad. I didn’t know they had gone. Always very reasonable prices there. Have you tried Suffolk Sails?

Yes - Sail & Cover. Online they say they are dissolved - I am a bit wary as I lost my deposit with a cover company who then disappeared after he took the cash!

I did call Sail & Cover and they say they are still 'open' and they are only listed on companies house as dissolved as they 'moved next door' but I think I will stay clear as it doesn't quite add up.

I will measure up at the weekend and if the off the shelf one isn't big enough I will try Suffolk Sails and Sail Medic.

Many thanks!

Hi Tim,
It’s Steve from sail and cover @ Woolverstone marina. We are in our 19th year of trading and going from strength to strength. We have moved to the larger building next door which may have caused some confusion. If you’d like to pop in and give us a look we’d be happy to help.
We are open Monday to Friday 8-4.
Alternatively give us a call 01473 780075
Kind regards
Steve

Sail and Cover are still trading and their website is online. They were here in my marina a couple of days ago working on a boat.

There were some changes in the directors in 2021 but that doesn't mean "it doesn't quite add up".

Edit, beat to it by Steve.

Hi Steve

Thank you for your reply. Online - the company has dissolved no change of address would make CH change the status of the company;
SAIL AND COVER LIMITED overview - Find and update company information - GOV.UK (company-information.service.gov.uk)

Fwiw we got an excellent cockpit cover for my younger son’s Squib from Sail and Cover at a very reasonable price three years ago and I’m thinking of going to them again for a bigger job, which they turned down three years ago on the very honest grounds that the old one would do a couple more years!

To change either a Company's registered address or the names of directors on line on the Companies House website was a 10 minute job last time I did it and certainly didn't involve changing the Company status from active.

If Sail & Cover are still free of debt and trading, I recommend they sort out their registration ASAP as both suppliers and customers are likely to turn away under the present circumstances.

Peter.
