I thought long and hard before putting the information below onto the forum. Kim might decide to pull it but as it's in the public domain I guess he won't??
This ad has been running in the CB (Costa Blanca) Friday paper on a weekly basis since just before Christmas.
There is no e-mail address or other contact information - just the phone number. I called the number a few weeks ago; got an answering machine and left my contact number however no call back.
I thought that if they went to LIBS then they would get a lot of information (Cruising Association, disability sailing, etc) and maybe the ad would stop but it hasn't.
So: anybody in the UK fancy calling them, finding out a bit more, and keeping the forum advised of progress??
The ad goes (quote):
We have two disabled children, aged 12 and 16. Henry, the elder boy, is globally developmentally delayed and is unable to walk and talk, whilst Freddie has severe learning disabilities, mobility difficulties (including poor balance) and is autistic. To manage with both boys we need to have 2 carers for most of the time. Having disabled children puts many challenges into life, including education and social service support for the boys, and it impacts severely into one's ability to lead a "normal" life.
We have decided to make a major change in the way we lead our lives by taking the boys, ourselves, and carers on an extended voyage on a boat. The project will include fitting out the boat with suitable equipment for the boys. We will be living aboard full time, which will be an exercise in minamalism!
We will need 2 carers to accompany us and who will live aboard with the family, and who must also like and know about sailing.
If you think you or your colleagues may be able to help in any way, we would be happy to come and meet with you and discuss this further. I would be most grateful for any input into the project generally.
