costs of flying to Greece

Has anyone analysed the costs of flying to Greece by area , airline and season. For instance I have heard recently of someone looking to winter in Rhodes because Easyjet flies there and off season too. I know that Ryan air flights to ferry ports such as Bari and Brindisi are cheap but the subsequent ferry timings and overall duration of travel are onerous . I know that there is a seaplane from Corfu to Levkada but the easyjet time table seems to require an overnight stay meanwhile the summer seaplane timetable is not yet published

so what are the best places cost and time wise ? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

[/ QUOTE ]Beware of making wintering decisions based on the EasyJet schedule. Rhodes is indeed a very nice place to visit but there are very limited mooring facilities for overwintering. The Mandraki harbour has a limited number of moorings but it is very exposed to the winter gales. What many cruisers in this area do is winter in Turkey, which has excellent facilities, and then spend the sailing season in the Greek Aegean Sea. EasyJet now flies to Dalaman which is perfect for the Turkish yachting bases of Marmaris, Gocek and Fethiye.
 
Agree with Lady Jessie loads of cheap flights to Bodrum,Dalaman etc from the uk all year round and now even Easy Jet .

Poster didn't ask about flights from the UK, indeed never mentioned the UK, although clearly that's your presumption. At the risk of stating the obvious, 'www' covers a slightly wider area than the UK. Sloppy questions warrant facetious answers.

Not sure if it was the snores . I think in my defense it was the fact that I manhandled a 2 metre rusty oily fuel tank out of my catamaran holding it close to me in my bathing suit and the resultant oily body caused such a crowd of panting females on the pontoon at Gouvia that the management asked me to leave for my own safety
 
I wasn`t replying to the poster but to Tomo who in turn was replying to Lady Jessie re using Turkey as a winter base. Clearly it was my presumption re flights from uk so whats your problem??
 
Cheers Mac , bloody emails are so useful but so black and white also --- I was having a hard day and missing the boat which a long way away in Turkey -- still, will be out there in a week to get her ready for the season roll on! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
We are currently in Leros which is quite cheap marina and safe haulout. We thought the ferries to Kos or Rhodes would be a good way to travel, but it seems not in winter. In practice the overnight blue star ferry (€ 34) and an easyjet flight from Athens is easily the cheapest to London. Cheaper than Marmaris connections on average I think, but not always. The ferry is a bit of a pain it doesnt go all the time in winter.

Worth checking out Athens ferries online anyway for the Aeagean.

Yes, but not until March! Tried booking a flight back from there. Seems bus to Izmir then BA to London is cheapest in Winter from Marmaris. Unless anyone knows a better way?
 
The service to Dalaman will start in March but it is EasyJet's intention, according to my information, to keep it going all year round. Should be a good service. The cheapest winter service right now is the Turkish Cypriot Airlines twice weekly service from Dalaman to Stansted.
