has anyone got any experience of the sea conditions along this coast and the various winds that one can expect in this area.i presently boat on the west coast of scotland based in largs and get quite a lot of shelter with the islands surrounding us; but have been offered a berth in the gulf of roses area, am i likely to get more use of the boat out there than in scotland,i know for sure that i will get more sun and less rain. and may not suffer wind against tide as much as i am led to believe that the med sea as hardly any tide in this area i would be grateful for any advice from people who have any experience of this area

we spent a long weekend there last year, very nice part of the world. There are a couple of forumites there so hopefully you will get a more detailed response. The canal system around Empuriabrava has to be seen to be believed, and its the sort of thing you love or hate! I am told it can tahe ages to get out to sea on a busy August.

We looked at a boat in Roses, and it was a bit bumpy when we went out for a test drive, most people there raved about the area, but did mention it gets a little more than its fair share of winds.

Having said that its not been that great weather in the Balerics this year so I guess its horses for courses as such

Best of luck if you go for it.

don;t expect it to be flat calm during the day in summer - wind/breeze gets up around around 11 and dies down again 2000h - sometimes stronger too.

navigation is easy - what you see is generally what you hit. in high summer if it can be gone agoround on someone will be on it!

some nice areas

Hi There
Im further down the coast (costa blanca) but the weather is similar, wind gets up about 12ish & drops off around 17.00. Get some local charts as there are many shoals & rocks lurking just beneath the surface close in to the shore that you need to be aware of. But no tide & mainly good weather with all year boating as a bonus....Nat
