Cost of transporting 36’ yacht from Maryland US to UK

I've been watching ebay and the prices of yachts in the states look very interesting. Does anyone have any first hand experience of how much it costs to ship a 36' L x 12' B x 7' D yacht from Maryland to the UK.

If you do a search on the forum you'll find that this has come up once or twice before., together with VAT and coding issues.

My 40' boat cost $12,000 five years ago. You need to add 42% to the US cost and if it still seems a good deal it may be worth a closer look. That's my experience, anyway. RCD compliance is an additional and difficult to define expense.

As an example, a 56' yacht, transported by ship, was quoted @ $35,000 recently.
Specialist sail on/off ships were higher.
Even if you pro-rata the size, its still a hefty cost.
This did not include VAT etc. at the EEC end.
