Can anyone help me get some idea of the cost of running a Seadoo?

Obviously there is insurance, depreciation, launch fees, thats easy I can work those out.... what I'm stuck on is some idea of fuel burn and servicing intervals/costs.

Thanks.

A lot depends on which model and engine size. They come with 130 to 260 hp engines in many different hull and superstructure configurations.

But in the meantime I expect there will be some interesting posts regarding, what are known hereabouts as, 'jet skis'

Boat or PWC?

I recently sold my rxp 215, I allways had an anual service done at the start of each season that used to cost between £150 and £200
Fuel consumption varied from about 20l per afternoon for lake use and 40l if on the sea
If you get a supercharged seadoo then the slip rings need changing reguarly as these are now considered a service part

I have a gtx supercharger it's aprox a 60 litre tank so 80/90 pounds to fill. As mentioned a minor service is 150-200 and mine had a replacement impeller and service at £600, after looking hard at them before purchasing mine it's very much like buying a boat! i assume if your looking at a 130-160hp model then it must be circa 10 year old, you have to make sure the owner has looked after her and has bills to prove it , there was some recalls on the earlier seadoos with reference to the washers used in the heads these were originally ceramic but have been replaced with with steel now, that sort of thing. I believe the supercharges require an overhaul at 100 hours. Im not really in the know about it just stuff I have heard while looking at them.

Do you know which model you are looking at?

Most serious owners will have them serviced at the start of every season with receipts to show for it. There's some good pwc forums which are on the whole pretty good and offer great advice on buying.

Seadoo costs

We had a 240hp V6 (two stroke engine) Speedster in a 16' hull which we sold earlier this year. I think it was a 2005 model year. On fuel costs it depends so much on what use you'll put the boat to - if we went out for an afternoon and caned it, £100 worth of unleaded would last little more than two hours. If you're gentle on the throttle and tend to poodle around £40 will last all day.

On engine servicing costs, the other posters have given good indications but be sure to shop around for one with fsh. Also, not having an engine hour meter on the dash on our one, you needed a Mercury/Seadoo dealer to plug in their laptop to tell you the engine usage. Try and get this info on a printout from your seller.

Thinking on it your probably asking this question in the wrong forum...

Google pwcforums and take a look in there I'm sure your question has been asked and answered quite a few times ds

Now back to the insults about jet ski's good job I'm thick skinned :)

It's a gift - an absolute gift, but I won't say anything - and especially not about tattoos - I promise. :D:D:D:D

Actually, we regularly get groups of Jet skiers (and sport boats) visiting Caernarfon and - without exception they are extremely well behaved in our tiny harbour. They don't seem that interested in visiting the town tho'. Mind you it is a very sunny & sheltered spot, so 5mm wetsuits might prove a little warm around the shops or up the castle.:D
