When family commitments allow we intend to buy a classic gentleman's yacht. However as we would intend to cruise controlled waters home and abroad not all the boats we have viewed have black/grey tanks fitted. As the vessel would be moored, in the short term, near where they were first made we rather think a 30 to 45 ft Rampart would fit the bill. All I would like is a ballpark figure to help compare properly with more modern boats where such things are standard.

To give you a guide, a basic holding tank using a standard size and shape tank and a gravity emptying system will cost around £3-400 pounds in materials. However, most boats need a custom designed tank to make full use of the space available. This increases the material cost to £7-800. If you go for a pumped system, which on some boats is necessary because there is not space for a gravity tank, the material cost will be anything up to twice as much - around £1500. If you are unable to do the job yourself, labour could double it again.
